The ÜJA has stood in the heart of Scuol for over a century. Once known as “Traube,” it welcomed travelers for over 125 years with simple coziness and mountain charm. We’ve preserved that spirit—we’ve restored the best of the past and added just enough new elements to make you feel right at home here today. The ÜJA blends the old and the new, memories and movement—a place rooted in the past and ready for its next chapter.

We’re Simona and Claudio, and we’re looking forward to your stay with us at the ÜJA. Born and raised in the Rhine Valley and a couple since high school, we’ve always been drawn to the Swiss mountains. After a decade of building our lives and careers in Zurich (Claudio in law, Simona in business), we felt drawn to something slower-paced, more down-to-earth, and more meaningful.

During a ski trip to the Lower Engadine, we stumbled upon this place—and it just clicked. It wasn’t just a beautiful valley. It felt like home. Now we live here full-time with our Australian Shepherd, Jäx, who loves welcoming guests almost as much as he loves the snow.
The ÜJA is our way of sharing this place with others. We’ve put our all into creating a stay that feels simple and authentic—with little touches that make a big difference. Whether you’re here to explore, relax, or just be—we hope you feel right at home.
